Match report The Ollie and Adam Show

Contrary to the weather forecast we arrived at Rothy in lovely sunshine, no signs of the predicted showers. We lost the toss and were inserted. Bonney played and miss one, and whilst replaying the shot he should have played, their wicketkeeper stumped him. 6-1. Tom joined Mike in the middle and quickly found the edge of his bat on a number of occasions. Mike took some blows to the thighs and chest, however stood his ground. A change of bowling was enough to see Tom off nicked to slip. 44-2. We then lost 5 wickets in quick succession. 81-7. As Ollie joined Adam,was this going to be another classic Dolphins collapse?

Not likely with these two at the crease. O&A sent about the task sensibly, taking time to play themselves in, Adam started to find the middle, hitting fours to all corners. The game had changed as the bowlers appetite waned until Adam eventually played around a straight one. Adam out for 63, his debut 50 for Dolphins - well batted. 158-8.

Ron aka Michael Fish who had predicted the showery weather had missed us went out to bat. The boys continued to bat well until the heavens opened and there was a deluge. We took tea early and what a tea it was, fantastic fairy cakes and lovely lemon cake. Big thanks to the Giovannis

When the rain eventually stopped, we had lost 5 overs each. We had 48 overs, they had 42 overs. Ollie and Ron went after their bowling and we declared on 206-8 after 46 overs, Ollie 36n.o. and Ron 25 n.o.

They had 44 overs to score 207. The two old boys opened with the old ball. Tom struck early with an LBW 2-1, however their no.1 & 3 started to score freely, so after 14 overs we took the new ball and Ollie and Adam showed us how to bowl. Ollie struck first sending the middle stump cartwheeling no.3 returns to pavilion. The no.1 appeared to edge one, however the umpire thought differently despite the huge appeal. He didn't survive much longer as Ollie caught him LBW in the very next over. Adam then joined in the wicket taking, with a further two quick dismissals. Zippy joined the attack. It is a long time since we had seen his 'wibblely wobberlies'. He bamboozled the opposition bowling 5 overs 3 maidens 1-4. Well done Zippy.
Next to enter the fray was Rocky, as he held onto a screamer in gully, a well executed cut shot straight into his hands, he didn't have to move, but did extremely well to hold on to the ball. Rocky then started bowling and clean bowled their last man, another great win for Dolphins.

It was great to see so many supporters watching us. A big thank you to Tommy Gregory for ensuring the boundary markers were all facing the right direction. Zippy you will have to do it right next time!

The day belonged to two characters who not only show us how to bowl each week, they are now showing us how to bat. Well done Ollie and Adam, I am so looking forward to the next episode of the Ollie and Adam show.
