Dolphins selection and new protocols

12 Jul 2020

Fellow Dolphins

I trust that this email find you well, and managing to get back on track in our ‘new’ normality.  Further to our President’s note welcoming the return of recreational cricket, our endeavours in Division 7B are due to start on next Saturday (18th July).

I request that you pass this on to any friends or family that intend to visit us during the season. The majority of information below is applicable only to our playing members. However, as any support is always welcome, please ensure that everyone is made aware of the necessary safeguards we have had to put in place. Some information below is applicable to our visitors.

The adaptations to the game are detailed on the website, under Covid-19 toolkit. We ask you to read in advance of the game being played, but the key points to highlight in advance of the game are:
• Changing facilities will be closed, so please arrive in whites. Toilets facilities will be accessible with a one way system in operation
• Food and drink is not to be served, so please bring enough for yourself
• A Track and trace system is required, so please ensure all details are up to date on the website as and players, or visitors will need to ‘sign in’ upon arrival

We are about to play at the highest level of league cricket so far achieved by the Dolphins.  As we now play on the pitch at a higher standard (Division 7B), we must also raise our standards off it. Our temporary hosts at Napsbury Park require their facilities to be left in a certain state, and with additional protocols in place, pre and post match responsibilities will become more demanding and rigorous. In addition to turning up at the designated meet time, it is essential for everyone to pull their weight in these duties. As such, when posting the teamsheet a responsibility will be allocated to you. This will allow us to adhere to the necessary guidelines with maximum efficiency and allow every one to leave together promptly after the game. Within our toolkit on the website we have included the 'Match Day Operational Plan' which provides guidance on what is required for each task. The club will provide the necessary equipment to ensure that this is done in a COVID secure way.

The President has sent communications regarding payment of annual subs. It has been agreed between us that selection priority will he given to those who have made payment. Therefore, if you have yet to pay and would like to be considered for next Saturday’s game, please could I ask you to do so as soon as possible. For the collection of match fees, we will be using contactless payments only.

I’d like to thank those that have also reached out to me offering to ‘stand down’ should we have strong availability. Selecting a team can be a stressful job at the best of times, so you are making our lives easier! With the league confirming no promotions or relegations, we hope to be able to rotate members to ensure that everyone gets a fair amount of playing time, whilst remaining competitive to allow for an enjoyable afternoon. The length of our games have been reduced from 90 to 80 overs in length.

Please could I ask you to input your availability onto the website as soon as soon possible. If known, please consider putting yours in for the whole season (9 weeks up to and including the 12th September) which will enable the captain and vice captain to plan for future weeks as well. Selection for our first game will take place on Tuesday, and then subsequent Monday’s. If you have any issues accessing the website, please get in touch with Ollie.

We hope the above makes sense and we thank you in advance for your assistance to allow us to return to cricket safely.  If you have any queries regarding the attached protocols and guidance, or any other concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Kind regards
Paul Bonney and Ollie Lacey
Club Captain and Vice Captain
