Match report Dolphins Run Rate Rises

Dolphins won the toss and decided to bowl on a warm and sunny afternoon ideal for a game of cricket.
Adam and Tom opened the bowling and we soon had an early break through following a good catch at gully by Ben. A change of bowling, saw Fahim downhill and Ian uphill, and a number of wickets fall. Ian taking 3 and Fahim finally rewarded with 1. This included a good catch at midwicket by Nathan and an extraordinary bowled when the batsman gloved a leg side ball onto his off stump. We also managed to drop a couple of catches in this spell.
The next change of bowling brought Zippy and Nathan into the attack. Zippy's wibbly Wobblies slowing their run rate as the batsmen tried to figure what was coming next. Just as we were about to change the bowling again Nathan started to get some reward and 3 more wickets tumbled. Amit and Charlie had spells up the hill with no reward, before Adam cleaned up the last 2 wickets which included their highest scoring batsman on 45. Kings Langley 180 all out in 50.1 overs.

After a long hike to and from the main clubhouse, dolphins commenced the run chase with Duncan and Tom - Duncan having completed a 300 mile charity ride earlier in the week and kept wicket for 51 overs was a reluctant opener, however he started like it was a T 20 bash, hitting 4 great shots for 4 all out of the middle of the bat. In the fourth over with the score on 24 Duncan blocked one towards square leg and Tom called for a quick single, this took Duncan by surprise and he finally set off, however there was never a run and the fielder lobbed the ball to the bowlers end and Duncan was run out by a good 5 yards. What was Tom doing, you would think at his age he would know better!
Fahim came to the wicket and continued where Duncan left off, reaching 18 from 4 scoring shots before getting an inside edge that trickled back onto his off stump 48-2 from 7 overs. Next up Ben who having sportingly wore the yellow cap was keen to get off the mark. Tom and Ben started to get on top off the bowling regularly scoring boundaries. A short ball from the left arm around was dispatched behind square leg for 4 to give Tom his 50. Shortly after Ben mistimed one and was caught at short cover 122-3 Ben scoring 27. Tom followed next ball chasing a wide and giving short cover some more gentle catching practice.
This saw two new batsmen at the crease Amit and Charlie, both confined to bat positively. Charlie flicked two short leg side balls for 4, on was looking set when he pushed one to short midwicket and was caught for 11. Amit was joined by Ian and boundaries continued to flow. Dolphins reached the target in 26 overs with both batsmen unbeaten - Amit 27no and Ian 17no.

A great batting and bowling performance, however we will need to practice our fielding especially our catching and long barriers.

Dolphins finally back to winning ways, well done a great team effort.
