Season 2022

07 Apr 2022

Good evening Dolphins!

I hope that you and your families are well. We are not too far away from the commencement of the cricket season, and now is an ideal time to provide you with a brief update ahead of our first friendly against Bamville, taking place on the 23rd April. We have also included our non-playing contingent within this email, to ensure that everyone is up to date of the changes.

For the 2022 season, we will continue to be playing our home games at Napsbury Park. At the league AGM, amendments to the rules meant that start times were pushed back to 1pm, with duration of the game being further reduced to 40 overs per sides. There is no requirement to provide teas, and therefore we are going to ask everyone to bring their own to each game please. Unlike previous years, the pavilion is now open for changing and shower facilities, and equally means that as a home side we will be providing hot and cold drinks. We look forward to welcoming many of our 'supporters' at home over the season and, whilst you may have to provide your own cake, do hope that you will consider popping along for a cup of tea (or something strong should you wish!). It would be great to see you.

Over the last two years, we have had to abide by covid protocols, and allocated match day tasks to everyone. Whilst we won't be doing that this season, we certainly hope that we can continue to maintain the principle of everyone contributing to both pre and post match responsibilities. It was efficient and allowed the whole team to leave promptly at the end of the game.

Our availability last year was very poor, and we hope that this doesn't happen again this year. We are sure you understand that we do not want to go through the stresses of that this year. To assist us, please put your availability into the website ASAP and consider keeping everything up to date for a minimum of 4 weeks in advance. This can help the captain and vice captain to be proactive in identifying strong/weak availabilities and adjust our resources accordingly. If you do not know of your availability, please use the 'unsure' option instead of leaving it blank. Should we get strong availability one week, please take it with good grace should we ask you to stand down. If you have any issues logging into the website please contact Ollie.

We hope that you have all seen the email from Mark about the quiz taking place on Friday 29th April. The price of this is £20 (updated from the previous email sent by Mark), and includes a fish and chip supper. The event is always a great curtain raised for the season, and we would like to extend invite to friends and family to get as many teams together as possible. As ever, the more the merrier! So please consider getting your team of 6-8 and sign up via the link before the deadline of 22nd April. Sign up here

We look forward to seeing you all very soon, ahead of what should be a fantastic year

Kind Regards

Ollie Lacey and Adam Roche (C & VC)
